The construction of Nikolaevskiy Palace was laid by the emperor Nicolas I in 1847. The palace and its premises were erected on the territory of 4 hectares, between the trench and the suburbs of Kovalevka in 1848. According to the approved plan, Dvortsoviy Guest Court made a part of a palace ensemble. The owner of the Guest Court was a famous combat general, the commanding officer of the second cavalry corps Dmitriy Erofeevich Osten-Sacken, who was also responsible for the settlement. His grandson Dmitriy Erofeevich (1790-1881) became general lieutenant during the rule of Paul I, then he was promoted to corps general officer during the rule of Alexandr I. In 1814, he became a governor-general of Paris and afterward was given the rank of court of Russian Empire. During the rule of Nikolas I, he became a field-marshal and obtained the rank of knyaz.









Our History




The first Ukrainian theatre was built in Yelisavetgrad in 1867.
According to the legend, the first stone of the building was laid by Nicholas I in 1847.
There was a special area used for parades in Yelisavetgrad.
The Military school was officially opened on September 26, 1865.
