The construction of Nikolaevskiy Palace was laid by the emperor Nicolas I in 1847. The palace and its premises were erected on the territory of 4 hectares, between the trench and the suburbs of Kovalevka in 1848. According to the approved plan, Dvortsoviy Guest Court made a part of a palace ensemble. The owner of the Guest Court was a famous combat general, the commanding officer of the second cavalry corps Dmitriy Erofeevich Osten-Sacken, who was also responsible for the settlement. His grandson Dmitriy Erofeevich (1790-1881) became general lieutenant during the rule of Paul I, then he was promoted to corps general officer during the rule of Alexandr I. In 1814, he became a governor-general of Paris and afterward was given the rank of court of Russian Empire. During the rule of Nikolas I, he became a field-marshal and obtained the rank of knyaz.
